GARY A. KERR


GARY A. KERR
​
Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Gary Kerr is a leadership practitioner, consultant, and executive coach with over 35 years leading organizations while developing the next generation of our nation’s leaders. He is an innovator who excels operating in high stress and resource constrained environments. He has extensive expertise in strategic planning, project management, operations, talent development, and cross-cultural competencies.
As the founder and principal consultant of OutFront Consulting, he is driven by a passion to develop great managers into even better leaders. Gary focuses on helping leaders maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of their organization by honing their skills as a leader in ways that support, encourage, empower, and motivate those they serve.
Before founding OutFront, Gary served as the Associate Vice President for Strategic Alliances and Military and Veterans Affairs at Park University. In this role he provided direct support for student services to over three thousand military affiliated students, managed partnership relationships with over seventy corporations, and developed and ran workforce development programs in the field of healthcare.
Gary spent over 23 years as an Army Officer. During his career he served over 45 months running and leading organizations in Iraq and Afghanistan. In each deployment he partnered with and supported host nations forces, coalition partners from around the world, and government and nongovernmental organizations. He leveraged his understanding of culture, values, beliefs, and norms to unify these external organizations toward a common purpose. Following his many deployments, he served as a Chief of Training at the US Army Mission Command Training Program (MCTP). At MCTP he helped senior commanders and their staffs plan, prepare, fight, and win by offering seminars, collective training, leadership experiences, and coaching.
In his final Army assignment, he served as the Department Chair and Professor of Military Science and Leadership at the University of Missouri. In this role he coached, trained, mentored, and certified Cadets to become leaders and junior officers in the US Army.
His academic credentials include an M.S. in Adult Education and Leadership from Kansas State University and a B.A. in History from The Ohio State University. He is a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College, Armor Officer Career and Basic Leaders Courses, and the Cavalry Leaders Course. He is Airborne and Ranger Qualified.
